Hebrews 13:1-9
IN OUR TIME?
Some do not believe it is possible to have revival in our time. They point to verses in the Bible that speak of conditions becoming worse and worse in the last days and claim that revival is impossible. Viewing conditions in America, they conclude that the land is so far gone that there is no hope of a real spiritual awakening. In a sense they have drawn their garments around them, closed out the needs of the world and the power of God, and are interested in the Lord's return only as a means of getting out of their troubles.
There are two serious errors in this kind of thinking.
First, though there are many signs that indicate we are in the last days, no one knows the exact time of the Lord's return: "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch" (Mark 13:32-37).
Second, God has promised to give revival to those who seek it. He has not limited that promise to any particular period of time. It may please the Lord to bring a gracious spiritual refreshing to our land.
Wouldn't it be too bad if we missed it because of our unbelief?
