Israel accuses Abbas of peddling lies, promoting blood libels

The Times of Israel reports: “Israel excoriated Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday, saying he was peddling lies and promoting blood libels after the he told European lawmakers in Brussels that terrorism worldwide would be eradicated if only Israel withdrew from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Abbas also pleaded with EU lawmakers to save Palestinians from Israeli ‘provocations,’ including what he said were calls by rabbis to poison Palestinians’ water — repeating a debunked hoax story.

‘Abbas showed his true colors in Brussels. Someone who refuses to meet with the [Israeli] president [Reuven Rivlin] and with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu for direct negotiations, and someone who promotes blood libels in the European parliament, is lying when he claims his hand is outstretched in peace,’ the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

‘Israel waits for the day Abbas stops peddling lies and inciting [against Israel]. Until then, Israel will continue to defend itself against Palestinian incitement, which fuels terror,’ the statement said…”
