His Son’s Name

Here is a verse that awaited the coming of the New Testament for its answers. Knowing the answers to each of the questions asked in this cry for information, makes the Christian want to shout: “HOW GREAT THOU ART!”

He has descended to earth, coming to die for us. He ascended to heaven to intercede for us. He holds the wind in His fists. He controls the waters of the earth and calmed the troubled Galilee during a storm that threatened the lives of His disciples. He has established the ends of the earth and created it by His Word. Everything is in His hands. All power belongs to Him.

And what is His Son’s name?

It is the name that is above every name. It is the name that angels announced. It is the name that frightened demons. It is the name that declared the forgiveness of sins. It is the name proclaimed as the only name under heaven in which is salvation: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

But hear this: It is the name at which every knee shall bow in a time yet to come: “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).

Jesus… there’s something about His name!
