CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH

Ex-SEALs chaplain faces ax for Christian beliefs

March 10, 2015 — WND.com reports: “A chaplain who used to provide services to Navy SEALS, Lt. Commander Wes Modder, could be booted from the military for failing to ‘show tolerance and respect’ on issues of faith – or, more specifically, for failing to water down his biblical views of homosexuality.

Modder’s troubles began in December, when his assistant came to his Naval Nuclear Power Training Command office in Goose Creek, S.C., with a couple of Equal Opportunity representatives bearing a five-page grievance against the chaplain, Fox News reported.

The officials said the complaints focused on Modder’s views of ‘same-sex relationships [and] marriages, homosexuality, different standards of respect for men and women, pre-marital sex and masturbation.’ In it, he was accused of failing to show ‘tolerance and respect’ and failing to ‘function in the diverse and pluralistic environment’ of the base…

Modder – who is a highly-decorated military member described by colleagues as the ‘best of the best’ – then hired an attorney, Michael Berry with the Liberty Institute. And Berry’s thoughts? That Modder was being set up and targeted because of his Christian faith…” (I reported a similar occurrence in the January 2015 edition of the Van Impe Intelligence Briefing and I repeat what I stated there. Christian Chaplains are being silenced and being replaced by Muslim clerics, and guess who is behind this move – President Obama who stated in The Chicago Sun Times “There are many ways to heaven”. Those who make this assertion make Christ a deceiver and liar and do not know Christ as Savior. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him John 3:36; I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins John 8:24; Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me John 14:6.”)

New Report Confirms Christians in Britain Face Widespread Discrimination

March 16, 2015 — Breitbart.com reports: “Lord Carey, a former Archbishop of Canterbury, has called on Christians to regain confidence in their faith and to speak about it. ‘It is simply a matter of freedom of speech,’ he has said. His comments were prompted by a recent report which has found that Christians living in Britain are increasingly afraid of revealing their religious beliefs for fear of persecution.

In August 2014 the Equality and Human Rights Commission put out a call for evidence for what is believed to be the biggest survey into social attitudes to religious beliefs, including atheism. Over the next three months they received 2,483 submissions of evidence, of which the vast majority, 1,030, came from Christians. Atheists were the next most represented group, with 188 submissions.

The report’s 200 pages detail a whole range of examples, experienced by people who follow major faiths, minor faiths, or no faith at all, of discrimination and ridicule. But discrimination against Christians in particular was ‘a prominent theme’. as followers of Christ felt that ‘Christianity had lost its place as the predominant religion in the UK relative to secular views.’

Christians as a group reported that ‘It did not seem acceptable to criticise other religions in the workplace whereas anyone could criticise Christianity;’ that ‘the ability to express Christian views in the workplace was believed to be opposed by employees who were LGB, by followers of other religions such as Islam and Hinduism, and by people who had no religion or were Atheists;’ and that ‘the ‘devotions’ of Muslim employees were regarded as more protected under equality legislation than Christian ones.’…” (Great persecution will soon overtake most Christians in a majority of the world. USA Today reported that Christianity is the most hated religion in the world. “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” – Matthew 5:10 – 12. However: Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” – Revelation 2:10. See the next three reports.)

Discrimination revealed: UK Christians have to keep faith hidden

March 12, 2015 — ChristianToday.com reports: “The little Christian girl had been taught in church that God created the universe.

When she repeated this belief at school, the teacher ridiculed her in front of the class and said only ‘religious nutters’ held such beliefs.

This is just one of the stories of discrimination against Christians in the workplace uncovered in a new consultation, which also found evidence that atheists were being discriminated against by some Christians.

Employees feel under increasing pressure to keep their religion hidden at work and they also feel discriminated against when it comes to wearing religious symbols or expressing their beliefs, the consultation found.

Christians in particular feel discriminated against.

Christians said they were mocked for their beliefs by colleagues who assumed they were bigoted.

Jewish and Muslim respondents also reported discrimination, such as finding it hard to get time off work, even as part of their normal annual leave, for religious observance. Others alleged that they were excluded from meetings, or passed over for promotion or recruitment due to their beliefs. They felt unable to raise the issue for fear of repercussions…”

Judge convicts Christian for voicing Bible verse

March 26, 2015 — WND.com reports: “A Christian street preacher convicted and fined by a U.K. judge, who also serves with an Islamic Shariah court, is guilty of having breached the public order by his choice of Bible verses.

Michael Overd, a former British paratrooper who has been street preaching for five years, was convicted this week of delivering ‘homophobic sermons’ over a loudspeaker in Taunton, Somerset, last summer.

Overd faced two charges relating to claims by homosexuals he had offended them and another of causing ‘racially aggravated’ harassment targeted at Muslims, the BBC reported. He was found guilty of only one of the ‘homophobic’ charges.

Overd, 50, was fined $300 and ordered to pay compensation and costs totaling $1,800 at Bristol Crown Court.

‘I have been ordered to pay compensation for causing ‘emotional pain’ to someone who approached me aggressively demanding to debate the issue,’ said Overd. ‘There was no harm, injury or theft, just a simple disagreement over theology which I have now been fined for.’

District Judge Shamim Ahmed Qureshi told Overd he should not have referenced Leviticus chapter 20 in explaining the biblical view on homosexuality, but ‘clearly indicated that he could have used chapter 18 of the book,’ reported Christian Concern.

Qureshi, who according to a 2009 article in ‘The Brief,’ chronicling the rise of Shariah law in Britain, serves with the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal, the overseer of the nation’s Shariah courts.

Qureshi found no problem with Overd’s use of Leviticus 18:22 which describes homosexual activity as an ‘abomination,’ but a reference to Leviticus 20:13 was impermissible because it prescribed the death penalty…”

‘No more Christians in Mideast within 2 years’

March 30, 2015 — WND.com reports: “If the U.S. and international community do not intervene, Christians may be driven out of the Middle Eastern Arab countries within two years, warned Lebanese parliamentarian Samy Gemayel during a radio interview Sunday.

Gemayel, a senior member of the Phalange Party, descends from a historic Lebanese Christian family.

His father, Amin, was the country’s president, while his brother, Pierre, was a member of parliament and a government minister before his assassination Nov. 21, 2006. Samy Gemayel’s uncle, former president-elect Bashir Gemayel, also was assassinated.

Speaking on ‘Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,’ broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and Philadelphia’s NewsTalk 990, Gemayel warned Christians and moderate Muslims are victims of two extremist forces fighting each other.

He stated: ‘Today all the moderates in the region are taken between two big extremists powers. On one side you have ISIS and on the other side you have the Islamic state of Iran.

‘So you have two Islamic states with two very extremist ideologies fighting against each other. And the moderates are stuck in a sandwich between these two powers.’…”
