CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH

Go ahead, fornicate: Christian college drops morality code

August 16, 2018 — WND.com reports: “A Christian university in Canada has decided to eliminate its code of behavior – which had been mandatory – for students after a court ruling that a law society could deny its law-school membership because of the ‘discrimination’ against LGBT students…

The Supreme Court of Canada, in a pair of 7-2 rulings, recent concluded that the law societies of British Columbia and Ontario could refuse accreditation to Trinity Western University’s planned law school because of the community covenant.

As a Christian institution, Trinity Western required students and faculty to abide by biblical boundaries on sexual behavior. The covenant also requires students to abstain from, among other things, fornication, obscene language, harassment, lying, stealing, pornography and drunkenness…”  (“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” – Hebrews 13:4.  “Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof” – Romans 13:13-14.)

Pro-gay church plans to build worship space/brewery, donate profits to Planned Parenthood

August 12, 2018 — FoxNews.com reports: “A building in Santa Cruz, Calif., is being converted into a worship space and public brewery by a pro-gay church that plans to donate some of its beer proceeds to Planned Parenthood, according to reports.

Members of the Greater Purpose Community Church now meet on Sundays at a food lounge to pray, listen and drink beer, KNTV reports.

‘There’s nothing in the Bible that says you can’t drink alcohol in a responsible manner,’ Pastor Chris VanHall told the station…”  (As they say in baseball – three strikes and you’re out.

Strike one – pro-gay church.  The Bible is clear that marriage is to be between a man and a women.  Some say, ‘Well Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality’.  He may not have spoken explicitly, but He did speak implicitly. – “Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh?  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh.  What therefore God had joined together let not man put asunder” –Matthew 19:4-6.  Besides, if you believe in II Timothy 3:16 then it does not matter if it is recorded as coming from the lips of Jesus or the pen of Paul because “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”  One important thing to remember, God never condemns homosexual sexual sins without also condemning heterosexual sexual sins.

Strike two – giving to Planned Parenthood.  As was mentioned earlier in this briefing: Abortionists break God’s sixth commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ – Exodus 20:13. Those who take lives are regarded as murderers and miss an eternal existence with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. If repentance occurs, and the sins of abortion are confessed and repented of, one is pardoned and sins are forgiven and forgotten – I John 1:9; Hebrews 8:12.

Strike three – drinking alcohol.  Wine and intoxicating drink is clearly forbidden and considered unclean in Leviticus 10:8-11:

“And the Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons, with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die:  it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:  and that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses”.

Clearly drinking is on the negative and sinful side of God’s Law, and we must not allow the opinions of men to cause us to reject the truth of God’s word.  When the Lord gives us a commandment it is important that we obey.)
