Russia warns the United States of the risks of World War Three

December 25, 2024 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “Russia said the West was playing with fire by considering allowing Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with Western missiles and cautioned the United States on Tuesday that World War Three would not be confined to Europe.

Ukraine attacked Russia’s western Kursk region on Aug. 6 and has carved out a slice of territory in the biggest foreign attack on Russia since World War Two. President Vladimir Putin said there would be a worthy response from Russia to the attack.

Sergei Lavrov, who has served as Putin’s foreign minister for more than 20 years, said that the West was seeking to escalate the Ukraine war and was ‘asking for trouble’ by considering Ukrainian requests to loosen curbs on using foreign-supplied weapons.

Since invading Ukraine in 2022, Putin has repeatedly warned of the risk of a much broader war involving the world’s biggest nuclear powers, though he has said Russia does not want a conflict with the US-led NATO alliance.

‘We are now confirming once again that playing with fire – and they are like small children playing with matches – is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country,’ Lavrov told reporters in Moscow…”  (Russia will head up World War III – Armageddon – Revelation 16:16.  Russia is described in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, and China in Revelation 16:12.  Also Daniel 12:4 predicts the impact of advanced knowledge, undoubtedly for the weapons for warfare near the hour for Christ’s return.  See the next two reports.)

NATO chief calls for defence surge to avoid ‘big war’ with Russia

December 13, 2024 — SpaceWar.com reports: “NATO chief Mark Rutte issued a stark warning Thursday to ‘turbo-charge’ defence spending, saying European nations were not prepared for the threat of future war with Russia.

‘We are not ready for what is coming our way in four to five years,’ Rutte said in a keynote address in Brussels, his first major speech since taking office as NATO secretary-general in October.

‘Danger is moving towards us at full speed.’

Russia’s war in Ukraine has jolted the Western military alliance to strengthen its eastern flank and ramp up spending.

But despite increases in defence budgets, NATO countries still do not match Moscow’s arms production.

‘Russia is preparing for long-term confrontation. With Ukraine. And with us,’ Rutte said…”

Putin signs record Russian budget, one-third for defense

December 2, 2024 — SpaceWar.com reports: “President Vladimir Putin signed Russia’s new budget on Sunday, which includes record spending on military capabilities as Moscow’s assault on Ukraine approaches the three-year mark.

More than 32% of the nation’s 2025 spending plan, or about $126 million, is earmarked for defense, a record. That amounts to 13.5 trillion rubles, and is up about 4% over this year’s military budget.

Putin signed the spending plan as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskty, who has been on a nearly non-stop world fundraising tour, met with European Union officials who have traveled to Ukraine to offer Zelensky support…”

Lavrov says Russia ready to defend itself through ‘any means’

December 6, 2024 — SpaceWar.com reports: “Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday said he hoped Ukraine’s allies took ‘seriously’ Moscow’s recent use of a hypersonic missile in the conflict there, and warned that Russia was ready to use ‘any means’ to defend itself.

The United States and its allies ‘must understand that we would be ready to use any means not to allow them to succeed in what they call strategic defeat of Russia,’ Lavrov said in an interview with US media personality Tucker Carlson.

Two weeks ago, Russia fired its new Oreshnik hypersonic missile on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in an escalation of the almost three-year war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has since threatened to use the weapon on Kyiv in response to Ukraine’s strikes on Russia’s territory, which took place after the United States authorized use of its ATACMS weapon system in such attacks.

Russia could deploy hypersonic missiles in Belarus, Putin says

December 10, 2024 — SpaceWar.com reports: “Russia could deploy its newly developed hypersonic Oreshnik missiles in Belarus next year as it begins to ramp up their production, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

Putin unveiled the nuclear-capable weapon last month after using it to strike the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, sharply escalating tensions in the almost three-year-long conflict.

‘As for the possibility of deploying, to put it bluntly, such formidable weapons as Oreshnik on Belarusian territory… it will become possible, I think, in the second half of next year,’ Putin said in a televised meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.

He said this would happen as ‘serial production’ of the missile is ‘ramped up in Russia’.

Russia had already deployed tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus in 2023.

Experts believe the new missile flies at 10 times the speed of sound and may be able to strike targets up to 5,500 kilometres (3,400 miles) away…”

Finland PM says Russia ‘permanent’ threat to EU

December 24, 2024 — SpaceWar.com reports: “Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said Sunday that Russia was a ‘permanent and dangerous threat’ to the EU, and stressed the need for increased defence spending and support for Ukraine.

Orpo hosted a summit on security and immigration with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Finnish head of government said ‘the security situation has changed’.

‘Russia is a permanent and dangerous threat to the European Union and European countries,’ Orpo said.

‘Europe’s defence must be strengthened by all possible means, we must explore all financial options,’ Orpo said, without mentioning any concrete plans for increasing budgets.

Kallas concurred, saying ‘that Russia poses a direct threat to European security,’ while noting that ‘security comprises of different elements.’

‘We see all across Europe different hybrid attacks, whether it’s sabotage acts, we see cyber attacks, also dangerous shadow fleet, GPS jamming and damage to cables, but also weaponising of migration,’ Kallas said…”

Russia launches ‘inhuman’ Christmas Day attacks, Ukraine says

December 25, 2024 — Reuters reports: “Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy system and some cities with cruise and ballistic missiles plus drones on Wednesday in an ‘inhuman’ Christmas Day assault, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

Nearly three years into the war, the strikes wounded at least six people in the northeastern city of Kharkiv and killed one in the region of Dnipropetrovsk, the governors there said.

Half a million people in Kharkiv region were left without heating, in temperatures just a few degrees Celsius above zero, while there were blackouts in the capital Kyiv and elsewhere.

‘Today, (Russian President Vladimir) Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhuman? More than 70 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than a hundred attack drones,’ he said.

Russia’s Defence Ministry confirmed it had conducted a ‘massive strike’ on what it said were critical energy facilities supporting the work of Kyiv’s ‘military-industrial complex’.

‘The aim of the strike was achieved. All facilities have been hit,’ it said in a statement…”
