RUSSIA AND THE KINGS OF THE EAST

U.S. Commander: Russian Modernization Efforts ‘Threaten to Erode’ U.S. Military Advantage in Europe

March 6, 2019  — Breitbart.com reports: “The top U.S. commander in Europe on Tuesday declared that American and NATO troops could not yet mount a credible deterrence against Russian aggression, noting that the Kremlin’s efforts to modernize its armed forces are eroding the United Sates’ military advantage in Europe.

Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) head and NATO’s supreme allied commander, identified a lack of manpower, naval capability shortfalls, and inadequate intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capacity as reasons why American and NATO troops are unable to handle the credible deterrence against Russian aggression.

The general’s comments came as he testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee about American military activities in Europe, telling lawmakers the United States needs to follow in the footsteps of American rival Russia and modernize its force…”  (Russia is warming up for Armageddon. Soon a peace program will be contracted for the Middle East nations – Daniel 11: 21, 24. It will be a peace contract for seven years but broken after 42 months – Daniel 9:27. Russia is the nation that then says: “…I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations…” – Ezekiel 38:11, 12.)

Russia Is Turning Up Its Nuclear Rhetoric. That’s a Problem

March 20, 2019  — DefenseOne.com reports: “In the past 20 years, American presidents have devoted precisely 38 words — combined — in their State of the Union addresses to supporting the country’s nuclear deterrent. President Trump’s 2018 contribution —  ‘As part of our defense, we must modernize and rebuild our nuclear arsenal, hopefully never having to use it, but making it so strong and powerful that it will deter any acts of aggression’ — was just the deterrent’s second SOTU mention since the Cold War.

In stark contrast, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently blew past this mark in one paragraph. His latest speech to the Federal Assembly, roughly the Russian equivalent to the State of the Union, ultimately delivered more than a half-dozen paragraphs on Russian nuclear capabilities, and another half-dozen hypocritically accusing the United States of violating the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.

And that is no aberration. In last year’s speech, Putin spent even more time on the subject, extolling, and playing animated videos of, five new Russian strategic weapons. If anything, his speech this year, which introduced just one hypersonic missile, displayed a Russian version of restraint.

Such bluster is nothing new for Russian leaders, but its increasingly ‘nuclear’ nature and the range of actions it threatens is a new and worrying development. For example, a Russian defense official reportedly threatened to add Norway to their list for nuclear attack if it participated in a joint military exercise involving only 300…”  (Nuclear war is coming – “Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.” This conflict called Armageddon is described in Revelation 9:14 – 18.)

North Korea ‘missile launch’ plans under scrutiny as concern mounts

March 12, 2019  — SpaceDaily.com reports: “South Korea’s military said Monday it was closely monitoring North Korean facilities after a series of satellite images triggered international alarm that Pyongyang might be preparing a long-range missile or space launch.

Any launch would send the stuttering talks on denuclearisation into disarray, after a high-stakes second summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un collapsed last month without a deal.

But some analysts suggest the North might be stage-managing activity at certain key sites, to stoke concern and secure ‘better terms’ when the two sides next meet.

Washington wants what administration officials have called a ‘big deal’, with the complete elimination of weapons of mass destruction in return for the dropping of sanctions that have strangled the isolated North’s economy.

North Korea favours a more step-by-approach, with Kim proposing dismantling its Yongbyon nuclear complex in exchange for lifting the main sanctions — a notion Trump refused in Hanoi despite the vaunted ‘chemistry’ between the pair…”  (North Korea marches with Russia and China for the war of the latter years and latter days – Ezekiel 38:8, 16.  Atomic bombs will produce global incineration – Psalms 97:3; Isaiah 66:15; Joel 2:3, 30; Zephaniah 1:18; Malachi 4:1; Revelation 8:7 and 9:18.)

China is overtaking U.S. in artificial intelligence

March 15, 2019  — SpaceDaily.com reports: “China is poised to overtake the United States in artificial intelligence with a surge in academic research on the key technology, an analysis published Wednesday showed.

The analysis by the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence showed China has already surpassed the US in published papers on AI — although many of these were considered ‘medium-quality’ or ‘low-quality.’

But the researchers said China is likely to top the US in the most-cited 50 percent of papers this year, the most-cited 10 percent of papers next year, and in the top one percent by 2025.

The findings highlight concerns in Washington and Silicon Valley that China is racing ahead of the US in key areas of technology such as autonomous vehicles, virtual reality and fifth-generation wireless networks…”  (China will become a basic partner with Russia for the rapidly approaching battle of Armageddon – Revelation 16:16. Russia will lead invasion number one – Ezekiel 38 & 39. China will lead invasion number two – Revelation 16:12; Revelation 9:14 – 16. Then all nations will come against Jerusalem for the final invasion at which point Jesus will return to stop the bloodshed and set up his eternal kingdom upon earth – “[He gathers] all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken… Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south” – Zechariah 14:2 – 4. Then Psalm 2:6 occurs as God the Father says: “…I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion [Jerusalem]”.)

U.S. should verify Chinese lunar activity not military related says US official

March 13, 2019  — SpaceDaily.com reports: “The United States should monitor China’s activity on the far side of the Moon to ensure there is no military activity, US Space Integrated Planning Element chief Joseph Guzman said during a panel discussion on space support to air and missile defence on 12 March.

‘If the Chinese are in fact putting a military base on the moon, I’m sure they wouldn’t admit it… They certainly have the technological prowess to do this and the will’, Guzman said. ‘I think we should actually establish some kind of way to verify what exactly is going on in the far side of the Moon and it’s probably not good enough to just believe what the Chinese tell us’.

Guzman said establishing a military capability on a celestial object would be in violation of the Outer Space Treaty of 1967.

In early January, the Chinese lunar mission Chang’e-4 successfully landed on the far side of the Moon for the first time in history…”  (Jesus said: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;  Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh– “ Luke 21:25 – 28.   See the next two reports.)

U.S. accuses Russia, China of undermining space peace push

March 20, 2019  — SpaceDaily.com reports: “The US on Tuesday accused Russia and China of raising the risk of conflict in space, notably by developing anti-satellite weapons, as diplomats held talks on a treaty to keep space peaceful.

The closed-door negotiations in Geneva involving experts from 25 governments — including the US, China and Russia — are aimed at laying the groundwork for a legally-binding text to prevent an arms race in outer space.

Beijing and Moscow pushed for the discussions that run through March 28, which experts have said may show results despite the grim climate for disarmament diplomacy.

But addressing the United Nations Conference on Disarmament, US assistant secretary of state Yleem Poblete questioned whether China and Russia were sincerely committed to the talks.

‘How can we believe (Russia is) serious about preventing an arms race in outer space when they are the ones that are developing ground-launched anti-satellite weapons?’ Poblete asked…”

U.S. space to counter alleged hypersonic weapons threat says Shanahan

March 21, 2019  — SpaceDaily.com reports: “The United States will use its new space force military branch to counter the alleged threat of hypersonic weapons systems that are being developed by China and Russia, Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said on Wednesday.

‘We put together a roadmap, and the roadmap was about how do we leverage space to reduce threats to the United States,’ Shanahan said during an event at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. ‘The first element on the roadmap is how do we counter hypersonics that are a risk to our men and women and to our homeland.’

Earlier in the day, speaking about the US decision to create a new separate Space Force, citing alleged threats from China and Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Geng Shuang accused Washington of ‘aspirations to establish unilateral military supremacy and to carry out research and develop advanced weapons.’…”
