RUSSIA AND THE KINGS OF THE EAST

Putin says Russia will ‘neutralise threats’ after US opens missile base

May 16, 2016BBC News reports: “President Vladimir Putin has escalated Russian criticism of a new US missile defence station in Romania, saying his country will ‘neutralise emerging threats’.

He argued it was aimed at weakening Russia’s nuclear power and vowed to increase Russian defence spending.

US President Barack Obama voiced concern about Russia’s ‘growing aggressive military presence’.

NATO says the base is aimed at potential threats from the Middle East.

The US on Thursday activated the estimated $800m (£550m; €700m) missile shield in Deveselu, southern Romania…

Speaking to Russian officials in Moscow, Mr Putin said: ‘This is not a defence system. This is part of a US nuclear strategic potential brought on to a periphery.

‘In this case, Eastern Europe is such a periphery. Those people taking such decisions must know that until now they have lived calm, fairly well-off and in safety.

‘Now, as these elements of ballistic missile defence are deployed, we are forced to think how to neutralise the emerging threats to the Russian Federation.’…”  (The retaliation has to do with millions dying via missiles loaded with nuclear bombs released by Russia and China –Revelation 9:14 – 18; Psalms 97:3; Isaiah 66:15; Ezekiel 20:47; Joel 2:3, 30; Zephaniah 1:18; Malachi 4:1; and Revelation 8:7.  See the next three reports.)

Russia threatens to make Romania ‘smoking ruins’

May 13, 2016WND.com reports: “Russian officials in a report on Thursday speculated that a nuclear war could leave Romania a ‘smoking ruins’ just as Britain said it intercepted several Russian transports that refused to identify themselves as they approached the Baltic States.

The amped up talk of death and destruction could, analysts warn, return the world to the hair-trigger tensions that shadowed America and the Soviet Union both in the years before President Ronald Reagan demands of Mikhail Gorbachev to ‘tear down this wall.’

It was the New York Times that said American officials were celebrating the opening of a missile defense system in Europe this week while the discussion in Moscow turned dark.

‘We have been saying right from when this story started that our experts are convinced that the deployment of the ABM system poses a certain threat to the Russian Federation,’ Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, told reporters in a conference call.

‘Measures are being taken to ensure the necessary level of security for Russia,’ he said. ‘The president himself, let me remind you, has repeatedly asked who the system will work against.’…”

China to send nuclear-armed submarines into Pacific amid tensions with US

May 26, 2016The Guardian reports: “The Chinese military is poised to send submarines armed with nuclear missiles into the Pacific Ocean for the first time, arguing that new US weapons systems have so undermined Beijing’s existing deterrent force that it has been left with no alternative.

Chinese military officials are not commenting on the timing of a maiden patrol, but insist the move is inevitable.

They point to plans unveiled in March to station the US Thaad anti-ballistic system in South Korea, and the development of hypersonic glide missiles potentially capable of hitting China less than an hour after launch, as huge threats to the effectiveness of its land-based deterrent force.

A recent Pentagon report to Congress predicted that ‘China will probably conduct its first nuclear deterrence patrol sometime in 2016’, though top US officers have made such predictions before…”

Beijing Warns Critics Over South China Sea Dispute

May 6, 2016Voice of America News reports: “As China awaits an international arbitration ruling over its claims to almost all of the South China Sea, Beijing issued a warning Friday to its critics, stating that the more they challenge its position regarding disputed territories in one of the world’s busiest waterways, the more it will push back.

Speaking at a special briefing on the dispute, Ouyang Yujing, director-general of the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs, said China is willing to take into consideration constructive comments and criticism from relevant countries.

‘But if they are aimed at putting pressure on China or blackening its name, then you can view it like a spring, which has an applied force and a counterforce. The more the pressure, the greater the reaction,’ he said…”
