THE BURDEN OF DAMASCUS

Outrage at Syrian rebel shown ‘eating soldier’s heart’

BBC News reports: “A video which appears to show a Syrian rebel taking a bite from the heart of a dead soldier has been widely condemned.

U.S.-based Human Rights Watch identified the rebel as Abu Sakkar, a well-known insurgent from the city of Homs, and said his actions were a war crime.

The main Syrian opposition coalition said he would be put on trial.

The video, which cannot be independently authenticated, seems to show him cutting out the heart.

‘I swear to God we will eat your hearts and your livers, you soldiers of Bashar the dog,’ the man says referring to President Bashar al-Assad as he stands over the soldier’s corpse.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) says Abu Sakkar is the leader of a group called the Independent Omar al-Farouq Brigade.

‘The desecration and mutilation of a killed person is definitely a war crime,’ Peter Bouckaert, emergencies director of Human Rights Watch, told the BBC. ‘This one particularly disturbing because of the sectarian nature of the language used by Abu Sakkar.’…” (This cannibal terrorist is described in Romans 3:10 – 18. Hell will be full of such barbarian savages as this human vulture – Revelation 21:8; 22:15.)

The New Syria: Flogging in the Town Square

Israel National News reports: “The rebellion against Syrian strongman Bashar Assad is turning increasingly Islamist in nature, seeing as the rebel forces are largely affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda and salafist Islam.

Videos streaming in daily from Syria document this Islamist influence, which comes in the form of executions and torture carried out in the name of Islam, among other things.

The embedded video, from Saraqeb in the Idlib province of northwestern Syria, shows the carrying out of sentences handed down by a rebel sharia field court.

Hundreds of local residents gathered to hear the sentence being pronounced by a rebel. Two residents were found guilty of offenses against sharia and sentenced to 40-50 lashes each.

The elder man was convicted of having his daughter, who had divorced her first husband, married to a second man during the ‘cooling off’ period of three months required by sharia law. He did this ten days before the 3-month period had ended and was sentenced to 50 lashes…” (Sharia Law pronounces such brutality and calls for a death penalty on all daughters who have premarital sex, all homosexuals, all apostate Muslims and every infidel, meaning all Christians. Christianity states: “Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you – Luke 6:27, 28.)

Report: Assad preparing missile strike against Tel Aviv in case attacked again

Haaretz reports: “Syria is making preparations to strike Tel Aviv in case Israel launches another attack on its territory, The Sunday Times reported…

The Syrian army has begun deploying advanced surface-to-surface missiles, the report said, adding that it has received orders to strike central Israel in case additional attacks against Syria are carried out.

The Sunday Times said that the information was obtained by reconnaissance satellites that were tracking the Syrian forces. According to the report, Syria was deploying advanced Tishreen missiles which are capable of carrying a half-ton warhead.

Israel, foreign media reported, was behind three attacks against targets in Syria in the past five months. The air raids, it was said, targeted shipments of weapons heading to Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Israel refused to officially confirm the recent attacks…” (President Assad, there is a prophecy which is yet to occur found in Isaiah’s prediction in chapter 17, verse 1: “…Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” It looks like Israel will win over missiles and chemical warfare as threatened in the next report.)

‘Assad Has Chemicals that Can Eradicate Entire Towns’

Israel National News reports: “President Bashar al-Assad’s regime has enough of the nerve agent sarin to ‘eradicate the whole of Damascus, Homs, Hama, and Aleppo,’ a former scientist for the Syrian chemical weapons program says.

Speaking to Al Jazeera on condition of anonymity after he fled Syria, the chemist said that the regime is not likely to unleash its chemical stockpiles unless it ‘no longer cares about the world knowing.’

‘If the regime is to fire a Scud-B with a chemical warhead filled with sarin, the missile would create a chemical cloud in the atmosphere that is 3km long and 500m wide, which could be fatal to all people under it,’ the chemist told Al Jazeera.

He claimed that the regime has only used sarin nerve gas in small quantities to halt rebel advances in four towns in the suburbs of Damascus, in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maksoud district, in Idlib’s Saraqeb town and in Homs’ al-Khalidiyeh district.

‘The intention was to incapacitate rebels and force them out of strategic areas, while keeping the deaths among their ranks limited,’ the chemist said, who added that he was speaking out ‘to dispel the myths on chemical weapons in Syria.’

The Syrian government has managed to keep information about its chemical weapons largely beyond the reach of outsiders, and to keep its scientists under heavy surveillance, even keeping some under 24-hour guard.

The exiled chemist told Al Jazeera that Syria’s stockpile comprises 700 tons of sarin agent, at least 3,000 aerial bombs that could be filled with chemical agents and more than 100 chemical warheads for Scud missiles…”

Syrian FM: Assad Will Remain President Until 2014

Israel National News reports: “Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is not planning to go anywhere anytime soon, his foreign minister clarified …

AFP reported that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that Assad, who is facing a two-year rebellion against his rule, will run for a third term in 2014 if the people want him to.

‘Do you want the president to resign before the (Geneva 2 peace) conference? That is not possible,’ Muallem was quoted as having told the Beirut-based Arab news channel Al-Mayadeen, which is close to Syria, its ally Iran and the Hizbullah terrorist organization.

The United States and Syria’s ally Russia are trying to organize a peace conference in Geneva to find a solution to end the bloodshed in Syria and hope to convene it in June.

‘Will President Assad run for a third term or won’t he, that will depend on conditions in 2014 and the will of the people,’ Muallem added.

‘If the people want him, he will present himself, and, if they don’t, he won’t. Mr. Assad is in constant touch with his people,’ he told Al-Mayadeen.

‘The Americans have no say on who governs Syria,’ he added. ‘Until the next presidential election, he will remain the president of the Syrian Arab Republic.’…” (A message for President Assad from the Old Testament: “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Also Job 7:1-8 – beware! Syrian president says army ‘has balance of power’

BBC News reports: “The Syrian army has scored ‘major victories’ against rebels and now holds ‘the balance of power’ in the conflict, President Bashar al-Assad has reportedly told a Lebanese TV station.

Mr. Assad is also quoted as saying Syria has received the first shipment of an advanced Russian air defence system.

Russia vowed to go ahead with sending S-300 missiles earlier…

The interview with Hezbollah-linked Al Manar TV is set to be broadcast later…

In excerpts from the interview published by Lebanon’s pro-Syrian Al Akhbar newspaper, Mr. Assad is quoted as saying: ‘The Syrian army has scored major victories against armed rebels on the ground and the balance of power is now with the Syrian army.’

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem made similar comments …telling Lebanese media: ‘Our armed forces have regained the momentum.”

Mr. Assad also admits in the interview with Al Manar that Syria and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement are co-operating, or ‘on the same axis’.

‘Hezbollah fighters are deployed along the Lebanese-Syrian borders but the operations are conducted by the Syrian army until the ‘terrorist’ groups are crushed’, he is quoted as saying.

Mr. Assad condemns backing for the rebels from Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, claiming there are now 100,000 foreign fighters on Syrian soil…”
