Iran Says to Defy U.S. and Continue Developing Ballistic Missiles

October 29, 2017 — Breitbart.com reports: “Iran’s president on Sunday said his country would continue building weapons including developing missiles as the United States prepares new sanctions over its ballistic missile programme.

‘To defend our nation and territorial integrity, we will build all the weapons we will need,’ Hassan Rouhani told parliament in statements broadcast on state television.

Recent Iranian missile launches have triggered US sanctions and accusations they violate the spirit of a 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and major powers.

Signed by Iran, Germany, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, the landmark accord saw economic sanctions on Iran lifted in exchange for Tehran curbing its nuclear activities.

Iran’s nuclear chief says weapons-grade uranium only 4 days away

October 30, 2017 — The Times of Israel reports: “Iran’s nuclear program chief said Sunday that his country can begin producing weapons-grade nuclear material in just four days if the nuclear deal with foreign powers falls through, and insisted that international inspectors will not be given access to closed Iranian military sites.

Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, said that while Tehran prefers to keep the landmark nuclear agreement intact the Fordo site can quickly begin ramping up uranium enrichment.

‘We can produce 20% (enriched uranium) at Fordo in four days but we don’t want the nuclear deal to collapse,’ Salehi told reporters, according to an English translation of his comments provided by the semi-official Fars news agency. He spoke to media after a joint press conference with the visiting director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, in Tehran…”

All U.S. bases in Mideast in range of Iran’s missiles, Iranian general says

November 1, 2017 — FoxNews.com reports: “Following an announcement that Iran would cap the flight range of its ballistic missiles at about 1,200 miles, a top Iranian military commander said Tuesday that all U.S. military bases in the region could still be struck.

Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, added that Iran had the capability to expand its missile range beyond that limit, the Washington Free Beacon reported, citing information from U.S. officials and regional reports.

The range limit was reportedly set by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The comments by Jafari appeared to be an effort by Iranian authorities to contrast their missile program, which they often describe as being for defensive purposes, against those of countries like North Korea, which has talked about launching missiles that can hit any U.S. city…”

Macron: Iran ballistic missiles ‘very worrying’

November 10, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday said he did not rule out new sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missile program.

According to the Russian Sputnik news agency, Macron said Iran’s ballistic missile program was ‘very worrying’ and said additional measures against the Islamic Republic should be included in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which should not be canceled.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Time magazine published Thursday and quoted by AFP, Macron warned that U.S. pressure to renegotiate the Iran nuclear deal could push Tehran into deciding to build its own nuclear weapons…”

Iran’s Ayatollah: ‘The U.S. Is, in the Real Sense of the Word, the Main Evil Enemy’

‘The US is, in the real sense of the word, the main evil enemy,’ Khamenei said while speaking to a group of Iranian students ahead of the November 4 ceremonies marking the ‘National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance,’ according to Iran’s state-run Press TV. ‘This reality stems from true understanding of issues and the facts on the ground, not from prejudice and pessimism,’ he claimed.

President Trump has repeatedly called the Iran nuclear agreement (or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), which was embraced by former President Barack Obama, ‘the worst deal ever negotiated.’
