Trump expects US-Iran deal ‘will be signed’ today: Report
I(NewsNation) — U.S. negotiators are expected to land in Pakistan for a round of talks with Iran, where President Donald Trump reportedly said “a deal will be signed” by Monday night.
As the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire draws closer to expiring, Trump reportedly told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo about the deal’s expected timeline in a phone call on Sunday.
Iranian state media said that its leaders will not participate in the next round of talks, and Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday that Iran had “no plan” to meet.
The potential peace talks follow a ship seizure in the Strait of Hormuz and Trump accusing Iran of violating the countries’ two-week ceasefire, which is set to expire Wednesday.
