CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH

Modern Worship music has entered a dangerous drift into progressive praise

May 20, 2025ProphecyNewsWatch.com reports: “There’s a sobering line in the prophet Hosea that echoes with fresh urgency today: ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge’ (Hosea 4:6).

It’s a warning to every generation that when we lose our grounding in the Word of God, we lose far more than clarity–we lose our very identity. Worship is not immune from this erosion. In fact, it may be the front line where the spiritual battle over truth is most quietly fought and dangerously lost.

A recent example of this drift comes from The Well Church in Gilbert, Arizona, which introduced a worship song that’s quickly making waves–not because of its beauty, but because of its bold embrace of theological confusion.

The song’s catch phrase is ‘We’ve Got No Idea What We’re Doing,’ and while the theme itself may be unintentionally honest, what follows is a troubling snapshot of what happens when worship untethers itself from biblical truth…

At first glance, this song might sound like a plea for unity, tolerance, or humility. But beneath the surface is a dangerous message: that truth is unknowable, doctrine is divisive, and everyone’s ‘spiritual truth’ is equally valid. This is not humility–it’s heresy…

Worship is not meant to be a sentimental singalong. It is sacred space where we declare the truth of who God is, remember what He has done, and realign our hearts with His will. When worship is grounded in Scripture, it shapes our theology, renews our minds, and strengthens our faith. But when worship becomes theologically shallow or worse–contrary to God’s Word–it leads people away from truth under the guise of spiritual experience.

This is not a matter of musical taste. It’s not about hymns vs. choruses or organs vs. electric guitars. It’s about content. A song that says “God bless the atheist” in the same breath as “God bless the Christian” is not offering a prayer–it’s erasing the reality of sin, repentance, and the gospel. And to sing “We’ve got no idea what we’re doing” as a refrain of supposed unity is to confess not humility, but surrender–to the spirit of the age rather than the Spirit of God…”  (What a sad state Christianity is in all the world.  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;   Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.  But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry – II Timothy 4:1-5.)

Evangelist Who Led Muslims to Christ Slain after Gospel Event

May 6, 2025MorningStarNews.org reports: “Islamists killed an evangelist after he led several Muslims to faith in Christ at an open-air event in eastern Uganda last month, sources said.

David Washume of Manga cell, Mungoma Ward, Nabumali town council in Mbale District was stabbed to death on April 3 as he made his way back from three days of preaching in the Nalondo, Buwalasi and Nabumali areas, area sources said. He was 38.

With fellow evangelist Fred Wepuhulu, Washume incorporated quranic verses and biblical references in his preaching, emphasizing the divinity of Christ and the humanity of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, said one of those attending the event. Washume spoke in the town of Nabumali on the third day of their campaign.

‘On the third day the attendance increased in number, and he demanded a response of putting sin to death in their lives, to kill sin and identify themselves with Christ and against Satan, and their voices lifted to heaven in song,’ said the attendee, whose name is withheld for security reasons. ‘Many people responded, including several Muslims who accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. But some Muslims started shouting in protest, and the two evangelists left and entered a friend’s home.’

Washume and Wepuhulu were returning home to their area of Nabumali the night of April 3 when they were attacked at about 10 p.m., Wepuhulu said…”  (Great persecution will soon overtake most Christians in a majority of the world.  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. – Matthew 5:10 – 12; If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.  But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. – John 15:18 – 21; …When he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.  — Revelation 6:9; …I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. – Revelation 20:4; and Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. – Revelation 2:10.  See the next report.)

Islamic Attacks on Nigerian Christians Escalate

May 2, 2025PJMedia.com reports: “Nigerian Christians are facing one of the most violent years in two decades of genocide by Islamic jihadis, according to a Christian advocacy group.

Between January and the close of April, International Christian Concern (ICC) says that it had documented ‘a dramatic rise in attacks against Christian communities in Nigeria.’ In the span of a little over three months, ICC soberly reported, over 300 Christians were killed. Dozens more were abducted while thousands were displaced as Islamic jihadi violence continues to escalate in Nigeria. Unfortunately, Nigerian authorities still largely fail to address the raging violence or help its victims…”
