FROM THE HEART OF DR. REXELLA VAN IMPE

Are You in Contact With Your Spirit Guide? – part 1

We’re hearing so much in this day about the New Age Movement and how we should be in contact with our “other self” through our “spirit guide.” These concepts are being taught in our public schools, even at the lower grade levels. Misguided, deceived individuals are teaching our innocent children about transcendental meditation, yoga, and the spirit world.

Numerous celebrities, such as Shirley MacLaine have publicized their involvement with such fearsome ancient spirit guides as Ramtha, Spectra, and Lazirus, who supposedly possess supernatural knowledge and can assist them in making important decisions and choices.

The truth is that most of the spirits out there are not holy. It is vitally important to recognize this fact. Sadly, too many people do not realize that when they participate in activities like “channeling,” trances, seances, etc., they are opening themselves up to all kinds of demonic spirits. Often, people actually give themselves over to evil spirits, with tragic results.

Our Guide

As Christians, our Spirit Guide lives within us. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you (1 Corinthians 6:19). Therefore, if our Spirit Guide is within us, we have no need to go outside ourselves for guidance as others suggest. He is all we need.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come (John 16:13).

Imagine, you have access to the greatest Spirit of all-the precious Holy Spirit. You can possess, and be possessed by, the most powerful force in all the universe, the omnisclent, omnipresent Spirit of the eternal God. Shiriey MacLaine and others talk about their spirit guides being so special because they are ancient. But our Spirit Guide-the Holy Spirit-helped create the world, even man.

Genesis 1:1,2 says, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. So the Holy Spirit was there at the dawn of creation-as a part of the Trinity. He is from the beginning and predates all other spirit guides.

We can have contact with this Holy Spirit and be guided by Him, but first we must possess Him. The only way that can happen is by the illumination of His Word. He must convince us of the truth. John 16:8 says, And when he is come, he will reprove [convince] the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. He convinces us that we need Him and guides us to the born-again experience.

Thank God, the Spirit does strive with us and illuminates the truth to us.

Our Intercessor

Not only does the Spirit convince us of our need of Christ, He also creates intercessory thoughts in us. There are times when we don’t even know what we need-what is good for us. So many times we may not even know how we should pray or what we should ask for. So we have to join our spirit with the Holy Spirit to seek out God’s best plan for our lives. Romans 8:26 says, Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

There are times when we come to God, praying only for what we want-asking for His approval-instead of seeking His will for our lives. I’m convinced that on those occasions when we come to God, asking selfishly, the Holy Spirit is saying, “No, Father, no.” When we do not ask within the will of God, then the Holy Spirit, in His mercy, intercedes for what is best.

As a young bride, I had an experience like this. I wanted a baby so much that I begged God to let me have one. I refused to consider how much a child would have hampered and burdened my calling and ministry, which at that time required me to live “on the road” for months at a time. I avoided thinking about how cruel and unfair my work load and life-style would be to a helpless, wholly-dependent little one.

Even after I knew that motherhood was not God’s will for me, I asked anyway. But the Holy Spirit, in His goodness, interceded for me-for my own good. And now, when I can see things clearly and in perspective, that knowledge brings me great comfort.

There may also be times when we experience a yearning for something that is undefined and inexpressible. It’s a hunger or yearning we simply can’t understand. At times like these, we can join our spirits with the Holy Spirit and let Him create intercessory thoughts within us. Then we can have peace that what is being sought in our behalf is for our good…and will be done. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him(l John 5:14.15).

Allowing the Holy Spirit to create intercessory thoughts and prayers brings such satisfaction and fulfillment. It goes beyond our understanding or ability to put it into words. It is so beautiful and powerful.

We will continue in our next newsletter to look at the Holy Spirit as our Comforter, Spiritual Gift-Giver, and our Keeper.

A CLASSIC MESSAGE OF HOPE FROM DR. JACK VAN IMPE

To Be Lost: Trust in The Sermon on the Mount

Multitudes today sincerely state, “I am going to get to heaven by following the Sermon on the Mount.” Though the seeker is sincere, he is sincerely wrong-for two reasons. First, Christ did not give the Sermon on the Mount as a plan of salvation. Secondly, no mortal being has the capability of keeping the teaching contained within the sermon. It takes Christ within one’s mind, heart, and body to produce anything spiritual, externally. Christ, internally, produces goodness externally. Without Him, forget it. Let me prove this statement.

  1. Righteousness

Matthew 5:6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. Are you among those who literally hunger for God’s Word daily? The psalmist could say in chapter 119:97, 0 how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Those who spend hours with newspapers, magazines, television, and sports but never open the pages of God’s Word are desecraters of this beatitude.

In addition, do you love to be with the people of God in the house of God? Or do you drag yourself out of bed and miserably say, “Phooey. it’s Sunday again and that means church. I guess I will just stay home and earn some well- deserved rest.” You certainly are not hungering and thirsting after righteousness. The psalmist again said in chapter 122:1, I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Well, that is one strike against 80 percent of us.

  1. Purity

In Matthew 5:8 Jesus said, Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Do you buy dirty sex magazines? Do you crave R- and X-rated movies? Is your mouth full of smut? Then you have offended the holiness of God and refused Christ’s message.

  1. Peacemakers

Matthew 5:9: Blessed are the peacemakers: For they shall be called the children of God. Many of humanity’s millions are involved in a battle over individual and group rights. We haggle about civil rights, women’s rights, and in the midst of the struggle deprive others of their rights. from and We castigate and ostracize others and automatically disqualify ourselves from Christ’s spiritual peace prize.

  1. Persecution

Matthew 5:10: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. How many have ever really been mistreated because of a personal stand for holiness? Few, I am certain. Christ goes on to say in verse 11: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Have you ever been called a “fool.” a “fanatic,” an “imbecile,” a “moron,” or a “Jesus freak”? Does your life so exemplify Christ that this part of Christ’s mountain sermon is a constant reality in your life? If not, where is the evidence that you are following the Master’s teachings?

  1. Lightbearers

Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven?  Do you witness?  How many have you lead to the Saviour?  Where are they?  Name them to yourself.  Is your light really shining? If not, why not?

  1. Hate

Matthew 5:21,22: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill: and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the Judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hellfire. Have you ever, in a state of anger, cursed or profaned another man? Then you again are guilty of disregarding Christ’s message.

  1. Adultery

Matthew 5:27.28: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you. That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Remember that filthy magazine and your mental longings as you perused it? Remember that dirty movie and your desire for the star? How about your secret desire for your neighbor’s wife? The Sermon on the Mount has been ignored for the Valley of the Pit in your life.

  1. Divorce

Matthew 5:32: Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Jesus said that fornication or a state of immorality was the only reason for divorce-not mental cruelty, blustery tempers, dirty dishes, or unbrushed teeth. America and the world are filled with broken homes, yet scores talk about following the Sermon on the Mount. The trouble is, they do not know its contents and they are blindly following their own code of ethics.

It would be interesting, if time allowed, to take all three of these chapters, verse by verse, and really see that none is good (Luke 18:19). However, let’s jump to Matthew 7:21-23, and see the final outcome for millions when the Judgment Day occurs.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day. Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Christ replies, Depart from me, ye that work iniquity. These religious reprobates were talking about the miracles and good deeds they had performed, but Christ denounces their hypocrisy on the basis of the sin they practiced. This is just the reason the Sermon on the Mount is insufficient.

The flesh is weak and unable to meet the stringent demands preached by Christ. Therefore, one must become a new creature and a partaker of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). This experience alone makes one qualified to fulfill God’s standards. The partaker has been raised to “newness of life” and has God’s own nature within to help him meet the holy ethics of Christ’s sermon. Without this new birth experience, it is all a hopeless, helpless exercise in futility. One needs Christ to fulfill Christ’s demands.

Dear friend, you have now learned that a confident trust in the symbols of Christ’s shed blood and an adherence to His teachings, though good, are not good enough to gain an eternity in heaven. It takes Jesus. That is why Acts 16:31 states, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Substitute anything or anyone, good or bad, for Christ and it brings an eternity of doom and damnation. Trust in Christ’s shed blood and resurrection today.

CHANGED LIVES-one at a time

Dear Rexella Van Impe,

I wanted to tell you that last Fall, a man in my church told me he was interested in prophecy but was not sure what resources to obtain.  I had an extra copy of the Jack Van Impe Prophecy Bible 3rd Edition sealed and new in the box.  I gave it to him the next Sunday I saw him and he was so happy!

Hello Dr. Rexella.

I just wanted to write and say thank you!  I’ve watched your program for many years. Back in the late 80s and early 90s while taking care of my grandfather, I watched. God has called your ministry. I know that Dr. Jack has gone home, but in the end of days your Ministry has become even more front line and important in the harvest of souls.  I’m so praying for you. I’ve dabbled in volunteer time with Christian Media Ministry. I just want the Lord Jesus to come and take His children home.  I’m looking forward to the celebration reunion when the Lord comes!  Praying and watching always, God has your Ministry in His hand.  Do not ever forget that.  God bless you and keep you until He touches His foot down on The Mount of Olives.
