In Trouble

Though Christians will not pass through the Tribulation, in this world we have tribulation. This is not strange. Salvation transforms sinners into citizens of heaven but it does not deliver them from earthly trials.

Some seem to have more than their share. Perhaps you feel you are one of them.

Still, God is faithful and has promised that He will not allow us to be tempted above what we are able. Henry Ward Beecher wrote: “No physician ever weighed out medicine to his patients with half so much care and exactness as God weighs out to us every trial. Not one grain too much does He ever permit to be put in the scale.

So, the Bible says we can rejoice in our trials.

Does this seem contradictory?

Not at all! These trials are designed to try our faith. And through them all we are kept by the power of God (see 1 Peter 1:5).

Like Peter, who began to sink when he looked at the wind and the waves while walking on the sea to Jesus, we may waver at times. But He never wavers. Our faith may sometimes be weak. But the object of our faith — Jesus — is strong.

No wonder we can rejoice in our temporary troubles. We have everlasting life! And we are in the care of our Eternal God.
