JERUSALEM: A CUP OF TREMBLING

Abbas Rips Into Trump: Palestinians Are Original Canaanites, Were in Jerusalem Before the Jews

January 17, 2018 — Haaretz reports: “Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas lashed out on Wednesday at U.S. President Donald Trump over his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In Cairo, Abbas also said that the Palestinians were the ‘original Canaanites’ and were in Jerusalem from before the Jews.

‘Every American administration has cursed its predecessor and promised something new but nothing came of it,’ the Palestinain president said at summit on Jerusalem at Cairo’s Al-Azhar university, the 1,000-year-old seat of Sunni Muslim learning. ‘How can we have faith that the super-power would be a mediator between us and the Israelis?’ he asked.

After Trump’s ‘sinful’ decision in December to change the status of Jerusalem and his decision to relocate the American embassy, ‘the U.S. has pulled itself out of the diplomatic process and can no longer be a mediator or sponsor,’ he said.

‘Our position is that we want a state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and a resolution of all key issues,’ Abbas said.

Abbas, a long-time opponent of violence, said that Palestinians ‘will continue to peacefully pursue our demands until we win back our rights.’ He said the Palestinians would continue to support peace, ‘but not at every price.’

Abbas said that the Palestinians are the ‘original Canaanites’ and that they were in Jerusalem from before the Jews, a claim he also voiced in his landmark speech a few days ago in which he said that the ‘Oslo accords are dead.’ In a speech on Sunday, Abbas said that ‘any future negotiations will take place only within the context of the international community, by an international committee created in the framework of an international conference. Allow me to be clear: We will not accept America leadership of a political process involving negotiations.’…”  (Mahmoud Abbas does not know his history, or the Qur’an – “And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, “O my people, remember the favor of Allah [God] upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you possessors and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds. O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you and do not turn back and [thus] become losers.” — Quran, Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:20-21.  And he does not know the Bible — Genesis 15:18 states: “In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates”  and in Joshua 1:4 we read: “From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.”  These verses encompass all of the land modern Israel currently possesses, plus all of the land of the Palestinians (the West Bank and Gaza), plus some of Egypt and Syria, plus all of Jordan, plus some of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Israel currently possesses only a fraction of the land God has promised.  See the next two reports.)

‘Jerusalem will be the capital of the Islamic Caliphate’

February 5, 2018 — Israel National News reports: “Sheikh Kamal al-Khatib, Deputy Head of the illegal Islamic Movement in Israel, published an article expressing his opinion what Jerusalem’s status should be.

The article, published in the Gaza newspaper Falestin, slams those who talk a lot about their love and connection to Al-Aqsa Mosque and notes that those who really love Al-Aqsa are the ones ‘who are active on the ground, hold Islamic activities in the mosque, renovate Muslims’ homes in the Old City of Jerusalem, and were arrested or forced to pay a fine for their activities.’

According to al-Khatib, the Palestinian Authority is ‘competing with us in their love for Jerusalem’ but they are also the ones who negotiated Jerusalem during the Oslo Accords and were willing to negotiate regarding Jerusalem. Today, when Jerusalem is becoming more Jewish, they cry crocodile tears.

‘The city of Al-Quds is the capital city of the Islamic Caliphate, which is run properly,’ al-Khatib wrote. ‘With the help of Allah, this will soon become reality.’…”

Jordan King Calls for Palestinian Capital in East Jerusalem

January 28, 2018 — Voice of America News reports: “Jordan’s king affirmed his support Sunday for establishing a Palestinian capital in east Jerusalem, highlighting his differences with the Trump administration on a central issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Abdullah II spoke at the start of a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who also expressed concern about President Donald Trump’s recognition last month of contested Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

‘I think there are very good reasons to question the theory that unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel would contribute to the consolidation of peace in the Middle East,’ Steinmeier was quoted as telling the Jordanian daily Al-Ghad in an interview published Sunday.

One of the pillars of Germany’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ‘is the need to preserve the status of holy sites and to negotiate the final status of Jerusalem within the framework of the two-state solution,’ Steinmeier, a former foreign minister, told Al-Ghad.

Jordan’s monarch serves as custodian of a major Muslim shrine in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem and the kingdom’s Hashemite dynasty derives much of its political legitimacy from its special role in Jerusalem. Jordan is also home to a large Palestinian population.

‘I think our views on Palestine and Jerusalem are well known to you,’ the king told the German president Sunday. ‘We do believe in a two-state solution, with [east] Jerusalem as a capital for the Palestinians.’…”

Netanyahu at Davos: Jerusalem to remain capital under any peace agreement

January 26, 2018 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “Netanyahu was interviewed by CNN‘s Fareed Zakaria on the main Davos stage on Thursday, saying: ‘Under any peace agreement the capital of Israel will continue to be in Jerusalem.’

Netanyahu reiterated that the seat of Israeli government is in Israel, and that Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for 3000 years. Donald Trump did ‘a great service for peace, because peace can only be based on truth. You can’t build peace on fantasy,’ the PM said.

When asked whether there wasn’t anything to be said for the Arabs’ historical connection to Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated that ‘Israel’s position is that Jerusalem should remain united under Israeli sovereignty with complete freedom for everyone to practice their faiths as they choose.’

He further claimed that if that were to change, ‘you could see Israel descend into the sectorial violence that categorizes other places in the Middle East.’

‘The Palestinians should have all the power to govern themselves but none of the power to threaten us,’ Netanyahu said. ‘In any political arrangement the Jews must retain security control in the area, because otherwise you’ll have ISIS… We have a mosaic of failed states in the Middle East, and we don’t want another one.’…” (930 times God promises Jerusalem forever to the Jews. Soon all Hell will break loose in the Middle East. Joel 3:2 warns today’s politicians that World War III occurs because of parting God’s land. It won’t succeed. Christ will return, stop the horrendous war and reign over the world from the Throne of David in Jerusalem forever – Revelation 11:18; Luke 1:32, 33. Psalm 122:6 – “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”)
