North and South Korea conduct dueling missile tests as arms race heats up

September 15, 2021 — Reuters reports: “Both North Korea and South Korea test fired ballistic missiles on Wednesday, the latest volley in an arms race that has seen both countries develop increasingly sophisticated weapons while efforts to get talks going on defusing tension prove fruitless.

South Korea tested a submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM), becoming the first country without nuclear weapons to develop such a system.

South Korea President Moon was attending that test firing when word came of the North Korean launches, its first ballistic missile tests since March.

North Korea fired a pair of ballistic missiles that landed in the sea off its east coast, according to officials in South Korea and Japan, just days after it tested a cruise missile that is believed to have nuclear capabilities…”  (Ezekiel 38:5 predicts that Russia, the Orient, and Persia [which changed its name to Iran in 1932] will see millions destroyed through atomic warfare in the Latter Years and Latter Days – Ezekiel 38:8, 16. Prepare to meet thy God Israel – Amos 4:12. This battle is described in Revelation 9:14 – 18: Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.  See the next report.)

North Korea fires unidentified projectile, criticizes US ‘hostile’ policy

September 28, 2021 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “North Korea fired a missile towards the sea off its east coast on Tuesday, South Korea’s military said, as Pyongyang called on the United States and South Korea to scrap their ‘double standards’ on weapons programs to restart talks.

The missile was launched from the central north province of Jagang at around 6:40 a.m. (2140 GMT), the South’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said. Japan’s defense ministry said it appeared to be a ballistic missile, without elaborating.

The latest test underscored the steady development of North Korea’s weapons systems, raising the stakes for stalled talks aimed at dismantling its nuclear and ballistic missile arsenals in return for US sanctions relief…”

North Korea leader’s sister demands South drop ‘hostile policies’

September 24, 2021 — SpaceWar.com reports: “The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday said it was ‘admirable’ of the South to propose a formal end to the Korean War but demanded Seoul first drop its ‘hostile policies’ towards Pyongyang.

Kim Yo Jong’s remarks, carried by Pyongyang’s official KCNA news agency, were in response to South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s recent calls for declaring an official end to the 1950-53 conflict that ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, leaving the two sides technically at war for more than half a century.

In a speech at the UN General Assembly earlier this week, Moon proposed the declaration of an end to the conflict that broke out 71 years ago, stressing such an act would ‘make irreversible progress in denuclearisation and usher in an era of complete peace’.

Kim, a key policy adviser to her brother Kim Jong Un, said it was an ‘admirable idea’ to propose a formal end to the war but insisted the South should remove its hostile attitude first…”  (Kim Jong-un, and now his sister, are following in the footsteps of their father Kim Jong-il and grandfather Kim il-sung in seeking nuclear weapons.  In 1993, President Bill Clinton spoke in South Korea and stated that if North Korea gained and used a nuclear weapon, the U.S. would quickly and overwhelming retaliate, and it would mean the end of their country as they know it.  President George W. Bush named North Korea as one of the three-part ‘axis of evil’ along with Iran and Iraq in 2002.  In 2014, President Barack Obama warned North Korea that the U.S. would not hesitate to use military might to defend our allies against this ‘pariah state’.  And in August 2017, President Donald Trump stated: “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States.  They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”  It is believed that North Korea developed nuclear weapons in 2004.  See the next report.)

North leader’s sister says inter-Korean summit possible with ‘respect’

September 28, 2021 — SpaceWar.com reports: “The influential sister of North Korea’s leader said in a statement on Saturday that an inter-Korean summit could take place, but only if mutual ‘respect’ and ‘impartiality’ are guaranteed.

It was the second statement in two days by Kim Jong Un’s sister and key advisor Kim Yo Jong.

She had on Friday urged Seoul to end its ‘hostile policies’ towards Pyongyang after South Korea’s president called for declaring an official end to the state of war with the North.

The 1950-53 war between the two Koreas ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, leaving Seoul and Pyongyang technically at war for over half a century.

An inter-Korean summit between her brother and the South’s Moon Jae-in could be held ‘only when impartiality and the attitude of respecting each other’ are guaranteed, Kim said in a statement carried by Pyongyang’s official KCNA news agency…”
