Is it a sin to celebrate Christmas?

T.F
Green Forest, AR

Sin only comes into play when one fails to acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ.

While all things are lawful for us (I Corinthians 6:12), we must be careful in three areas: (1) in determining our priorities, (2) in exposing ourselves to any thing which has the potential of bringing us under its power or cooling our affections toward Christ and (3) in choosing among alternatives those things which will best enhance our testimony before the world and help our weaker brethern (I Corinthians 10:23)

Since the Christmas season is one of the few times that the world stops to consider spiritual truths, we as Christians have a special opportunity and obligation for giving Christ the preeminence referenced earlier.

Our cause for rejoicing in celebration is God's gift of His Son. Everyone and everything else must clearly take second place.

Does the 24 Elders in Revelation represent the Church. If so, why do you think this?

L.B
Clover, SC

Who are these twenty-four elders in Revelation 4:4? Some believe they represent the twenty-four groups or orders within the Levitical priesthood. This, in turn, represents all believers in Christ for, through Him as High Priest, every Christian is a member of the royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Others believe the twenty-four elders represent the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles for a total of twenty-four. In other words, they say the elders represent God’s people of all ages. This is a good possibility since Revelation 21 describes the New Jerusalem, the names of the twelve tribes inscribed on the gates, and the names of the twelve apostles found upon the twelve foundations (see verses 12-14). Regardless of the view one holds, the four and twenty elders represent the children of God in the presence of the Lord, before the horrible Tribulation begins in chapter 6.

Is it possible that the RFID chip implant that will be mandatory is the Mark of the Beast?

B.B
Russelleville, AR

Concerning the radio frequency identification system (RFID), this is not the Mark at this point, but it is easy to see how mankind will accept the Mark in the near future (Revelation 14:9,11; 15:2; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4).

Regarding II Thessalonians 2:1-12; this always confuses me a bit. The great falling away is in progress, but the man of sin has not been revealed yet. So, are we talking about the rapture or the millenium reign?

D.G
Sunnyside, WA

The falling away, or apostasy, is an aggressive and climatic revolt against God which will prepare the way for the appearance of the man of sin (see I Timothy 4:1-5; II Timothy 3:1-5). The man of sin is literally the man of lawlessness. While it is true that the forces of lawlessness were at work in Paul’s time and are at work today, the man of lawlessness is an individual of the future who will come to power during the Tribulation days.

The antichrist is currently being held back by a restrainer. Some understand this to be God indwelling His Church by the Holy Spirit, while others see human government as the restraint. According to the former view, the removal will be at the rapture of the church, according to the latter, it will happen at the overthrow of human government at the hands of the antichrist.

Paul’s argument in II Thessalonians can be summed up as follows. [1] The day of the Lord will not begin until the antichrist is revealed. [2] The antichrist cannot begin to act until the restrainer, the Church or believers, are removed. [3] Since the restrainer has not been removed, the Day of the Lord cannot have begun.

It is evident from John 16:7,8 that the work of the Spirit in the world is that of conviction and restraint concerning sin. He accomplishes this work through the bodies of those He indwells (I Corinthians 6:19). Spirit-indwelled believers have a purifying effect on the world. The Antichrist cannot be revealed until the Bride of Christ (the Church – all believers dead and living) are removed (II Thessalonians 2:3,7,8).

This does not mean that the Holy Spirit must be removed from the earth. This is not possible since He, as God, is omnipresent (present everywhere at all times) Psalms 139:7-11 and always will be.

When we enter into the presence of the Lord, will we recognise our loved ones that have passed before us?

N.M
Portland, OR

The answer to your question about our loved ones in Heaven will be found in Matthew 22:23-30. We will have glorified bodies like Christ. Matthew 17:1-4 describes Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration where Moses and Elijah appeared. The disciples had never seen them, but immediately knew who they were. Why? Because this scenario pictures the hour of the Rapture when believers receive glorified bodies similar to Christ’s (Philippians 3:20,21; I John 3:2). In these new bodies we shall know all things, including the recognition of our loved ones (I Corinthians 13:12).

Who will be judged first? The believers or unbelievers

C.H
ATL, GA

I suppose you are are referring to judgements following Christ's return.

The Bible is clear in its teaching that only the saved stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Those who have not been faithful will be ashamed. I John 2:28 states: “And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.” The message is to the little children, those who are born again or saved. These are in danger of being ashamed before the Lord at His coming but not cast out.

The Judgment Seat of Christ takes place immediately upon His coming. You will note from Revelation 20:5 that lost people are not resurrected until after the Millennium, after the resurrection of the saved and the Judgment Seat of Christ. We can rest assured that the teaching of the Bible will not give comfort to those who do not want to give up their sins. The true Biblical teaching of the Judgment Seat of Christ should call Christians to a dedicated and holy life because of the wonderful rewards that will be theirs at that time.

The Great White Throne Judgment which happens later, is described in Revelation 20:11-15. This judgment is only for unbelievers. The unsaved dead are resurrected from the temporary Hell (Hades), stand before God to be judged out of the books mentioned in Revelation 20:12, hear that their names are not found in the book of Life because they have never received Christ, and are cast ALIVE into the permanent Hell known as the Lake of Fire (Gehenna) to be eternally tormented and separated from God.

If I have three sixes in my social security number; do I have the mark of the beast?

E.L

Through the government and other agencies, many individuals have received identification numbers that include the numbers 666. Such cases are not an indicator that one is connected to the Mark of the Beast.

The “Mark of the Beast” (666 identification system) happens only during the Tribulation period.

As a born again Believer, this cannot include you.

This is so, because the believer is “raptured” in Revelation 4:1. The Antichrist comes to power (Revelation 6:1,2), and then midway through the Tribulation period, he begins the usage of his “666” identification system.

Can you explain again the thousand year reign of Jesus Christ, and what happens at the end of the thousand years? Is satan released again, and is this when the final judgement takes place? What happens to the earth at this time?

T.S
Gray, ME

At the end of the seven year time of Tribulation, Christ will return with His saints. The saints who return with Jesus will have their new glorified bodies (Philippians 3:21). Those who survived the Tribulation Hour and who are not condemned in the judgment of nations are allowed to enter the Millennium in their mortal bodies (Matthew 25:34). Since they are in mortal bodies and are able to procreate, babies will be born during this thousand year period. They, of course, will also have mortal bodies.

Because Satan is bound in Revelation 20:1,2), there is no enticement to sin among these mortals, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. However, the children born during the Millennium still possess the old Adamic, or sin prone, nature. Because Christ rules with a rod of iron, they are kept under control for that thousand year period.

After 1,000 years of being bound, Satan is loosed again for a brief season (see Revelation 20:7); because God has always wanted everyone to follow Him by his or her own free will. So these millennial children are tested, and I am sad to say that multitudes after being with Jesus and seeing His sweetness, His tenderness, His love and His compassion will say, “I want to be with Satan.” It is really the same as at His first coming, when the people were with Jesus, and yet refused Him.

The Great White Throne Judgment is described in Revelation 20:11-15.

After the one thousand years of the Millennium, there will be a renovation, a purging through fire. II Peter 3:10 says “The Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up”. This means literally that the earth shall be purged with fire. This happens because when Satan is released from the pit, he will gather a multitude of people who will turn against Christ. Punishment will come and the earth is purged with fire, including heavens one and two, and that is why Revelation 21:1 says “I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away”. This is the purging through fire, but the globe still stays here because it is going to go on for ever.

The one unpardonable sin is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. What is this exactly? Is there no return to the Holy Spirit?

D.M
Essexville, MI

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit in Matthew 12:24, 31, 32; Mark 3:28, 29; and Luke 12:10 is not a momentary utterance while under the influence of alcohol, anger or human emotion. It is a deep seeded conviction! There is no way that these people will ever believe that Jesus was sent from God. They are convinced in their hearts that His power comes from Satan. This is the unpardonable sin. Although Jesus wanted to forgive them and indeed could have forgiven them, these men would not change the position of their heart. This sin is unforgivable. Jesus was not able to forgive them because of their unbelief.

The falling away, or apostasy, is an aggressive and climatic revolt against God which will prepare the way for the appearance of the man of sin (see I Timothy 4:1-5; II Timothy 3:1-5). Will mentally challenged people be raptured?

S.R
Chennai Tamil Nadu, India

We believe that children both born and unborn at the time of the Rapture, will go into the presence of God. This would also apply to the truly mentally challenged child that becomes an adult when Christ returns. Why? – Because he or she never reaches the mental maturity of the age of accountability.

We believe that all children who die before the age of accountability go into the presence of the Lord. In addition to Luke 18:16, “(Allow) little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of (heaven),” see also Romans 5 verse 18: “Therefore by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” We understand this verse to say that all are condemned because of Adam but through Jesus Christ all have righteousness. As such, everyone who is born into this world is covered by the righteousness of the merits of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Of course, this is true only until they are old enough to bear responsibility for their personal sins. At this time, they must exercise faith in Jesus Christ in order to be saved. They are covered by the love of God up until this time of personal accountability for sin.

Can satan read our minds? If so, is this how he seems to control so many people in these last days?

E.E
Atlanta, GA

First of all, let’s get a little background here. Satan fell from heaven; he was known as Lucifer, Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:14-18. When he fell he took one third of the angels of heaven with him, Revelation 12:7. These angels became demons, because in Mathew 25:41, Jesus said: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Now if he’s the devil, his angels are the demonia, the demons. Now, Satan cannot read anyone’s minds. Why? Only God is omniscient: knowing all things; omnipotent: all powerful; and omnipresent: everywhere at all times. Satan can’t do that. That’s why in Ephesians 6:12 we talk about principalities and powers in high places. This is his army: tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of these fallen angels, who are everything from buck privates to four star generals; to carry out everything that’s going on in the world and bring it to him, so he can know what’s happening. He can’t do it and his days are numbered. Christ is soon to return!

When we are taken with Jesus in the Rapture, will we be changed to live in incorruptible bodies?

Boris Barrera
Bogata, Colombia

Yes, and the only way to obtain a glorified body, is either through resurrection or rapture.

The risen Saviour had a glorified (resurrection) body of flesh and bones, one that could be seen, touched, and fed. Glorified bodies will have the same supernatural qualities as Christ’s had (passing through walls, instantaneous travel) (Luke 24:36-51; I John 3:2).

All believers, first the dead, then the living, will join Him bodily in the clouds. The bodies, dead and living, that rise for this reunion will be transformed to be like Jesus’ body (1 John 3:2; Psalm 17:15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; Philippians 3:20,21).
