Will the Third Jewish Temple that is discussed in Revelation be built before, or after the rapture occurs?

Jeff Tinney
Peru, IN

It is possible that we will see the beginning of the glorious rebuilding of the Temple. When the Antichrist comes to power he confirms a seven year peace contract with the nations (Daniel 9:27).

What does the Bible mean when it talks about a name being blotted out of the book of life?

Marie Kirkman
Hubert, NC

The Great White Throne Judgment is described in Revelation 20:11-15. This judgment is only for unbelievers. The unsaved dead are resurrected from the temporary Hell (Hades), stand before God to be judged out of the books mentioned in Revelation 20:12, hear that their names are not found in the book of Life because they have never received Christ, and are cast ALIVE into the permanent Hell known as the Lake of Fire (Gehenna) to be eternally tormented and separated from God.

The white rainment is found upon the bride of Christ at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb:Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the linen is the righteousness of the saints (Revelation 19:7,8 ). Those who possess a genuine salvation experience will remain in the book of life eternally. What security! Christ says, “I will not blot out his name…before my father, and before his angels.” (Revelation 3:5)

If demons are in hell, then how can they also be on earth with us?

A.P
Concord, CA

While the Bible mention fallen angels (demons) being confined in hell– it does not say all of them were banished there. Read, II Peter 2:4; and Jude 6.

Lucifer, an archangel (satan), committed high treason in his rebellion against God (Isaiah 14:12-14).

Many theologians agree that a third of the angels fell with Satan. Revelation 12:3-4 tells us a third part of the stars, which represents a third of the angels, were thrown from heaven to earth.

Someday soon his limited power will be destroyed forever (Revelation 20:10).

Is there scripture reference in the Bible that prohibits the habit of gambling?

H.S
Denver, CO

Certainly with states adopting lotteries and legalized gambling in other forms, it has prompted concern.

I trust that I can share a few thoughts from the scriptures that may address this problem.

Almost all gambling is solely for the gain of money. People who participate in gambling are doing so out of a desire for material gain. The scriptures warn against the covetous heart and love for money.

A very important passage in this regard is I Timothy 6:6-11. As Paul points out, it is the love of money which is the root of all evil. All manner of wickedness and sin can be traced to man's covetous desire for material wealth.

Paul clearly points out that many in the pursuit and love of money (I Timothy 6:10) have even erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. He contrasts this by saying that the man of God ought to pursue righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness. As Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot Serve God and mammon. ”

As with the sin of drunkenness, one very seldom hears or sees the real picture of the ruin that gambling brings. While the “winners” are greatly publicized, countless broken homes, hungry children, and shattered lives are seldom heard of. In other places in God's Word, the sin of covetousness in relation to greed is condemned. I would point out I Corinthians 5:11, I Corinthians 6:10, and Ephesians 5:5. It is little wonder that gambling has a long association with corruption and greed.

In futile hopes that they will somehow “strike it rich,” many squander what little money they have. This is a day of economic hardship for many people and the prospect of winning huge sums of money is indeed a tempting one. The “odds” are clearly against the gambler in more ways than one. I would call to mind the scripture in I Thessalonians 4:11-12 as well as II Thessalonians 3:10-15. These are admonishments that all in society would do well to learn.

How do we know that the Bible is the true Word of God?

A.R
Birmingham, England

As born-again believers, we accept the Word of God in its entirety as divinely inspired and inerrant. During these last days, we are seeing a continual turning away from this truth.

Many ministers have taken it upon themselves to reject the inspired Word of God. This rejection goes against what we know to be true and spoken of by the Word. II Peter 1:19-25 bears record of the fact that men of God were directed as to the words that they should write. II Timothy 3:16 tells us that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”. This verse tells us that Scripture is literally “God breathed”. Other verses you may wish to study are Luke 9:26, Hebrews 1:1,2 and Zechariah 7:12. There are many verses that bear testimony of the record of truth.

The Word of God gives a direct warning to those who would tamper with His Word. Revelation 22:18,19 is a fearful admonition to those who would take away from the Word of God. As one begins to deny certain areas of the Bible, it leaves the door open for a further denial of God’s truth. Jesus spoke to this end in John 5:46,47 when he authenticated the words of Moses and the prophets. He said that if one would not believe this record, that same one would not believe His Words. It is a terrible thing to see men turning away from the Word of God. We know that this is a sign of the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (I Timothy 4:1).

How do I know beyond a doubt that I am saved?

T.D
Sevierville, TN

Great question! because Christ is indeed soon to return. The requirement for going to Heaven is that each person must receive Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour (John 1:12).

John 3:3 says: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Although it does not have to be a public confession, the church service is often the most convenient time for a person to be saved. Also please study I John chapter 5 with regard to eternal life.

I would like to know if we will actually live with our saved loved ones in Heaven, or will we see them once in a while?

S.D
Ballston Spa, NY

Believers in Christ will live together in the Heavenly City. Christ has been preparing this city for 2,000 years (John 14:2). This magnificent masterpiece descending toward earth reminds one of the elegant beauty of a bride on her wedding day (Revelation 21:2). Verses 9-27 present a glowing description of the city.

Matthew 17:1-4 describes Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration where Moses and Elijah appeared. The disciples had never seen them, but immediately knew who they were. Why? Because this scenario pictures the hour of the Rapture when believers receive glorified bodies similar to Christ’s (Philippians 3:20,21; I John 3:2). In these new bodies we shall know all things, including the recognition of our loved ones (I Corinthians 13:12). There is no doubt that we will spend much time with the our loved ones. Our God will continue to give the desires of our heart.

Is America mentioned in the Last Days?

K.B
Dallas, TX

America is certainly included in the judgments upon all nations (Ezekiel 39:21). It also seems to be mentioned in Revelation 18.

America today is surely laden with iniquity with its drunkenness, drug addiction, tobacco, gambling, prostitution, homosexuality, smut peddlers, immorality, abortions, mercy killers, murderers, robbers, and looters. America and the nations of the world need to wake up!

Who are the “fearful” that are not going to Heaven?

Riza Arenas
Wasilla, Alaska

The “fearful” mentioned in Revelation 21:8, refer to those who rejected Christ to escape the ridicule of men.

What does the Bible say about drugs/substance abuse in society today?

Genia Crenshaw
Orchard Hill,GA

We can already see the dawning of the day of drugs in the spread of drug use throughout all levels of society. Such a widespread use of drugs cannot help but bring its own destruction. Even amid all the trips in mind expansion propaganda, not one user has ever been able to actually do more or be more efficient than he was before experimenting with drugs. This steady downward retrogression will be climaxed at the close of the Great Tribulation, when the full cup of its own judgment is measured.

The closing chapters of the Book of Revelation graphically portray the terrible consequences of mankind’s enchantment with drugs. What we are presently witnessing is only the beginning of the coming disintegration of society during the Tribulation period. Revelation 18:23 states: For by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. The Greek word for sorceries is pharmakeia. Thus, “by their enchantment with drugs, or getting high on drugs, were all nations deceived.” This is the result of mankind’s first mass usage of drugs.

Now there is a change in the next occurrence of the word translated sorcerers. This change reveals a class of people who are doomed and is found in chapter 21, verse 8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. The Greek word for sorcerers in this text is pharmakeus. Whereas the word pharmakeia meant “enchantment with drugs,” pharmakeus means “the enchanter with drugs”—the pusher or the seller of drugs.

But wait! There is another reference to sorcerers in this book of the Bible—chapter 22, verse 15: For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Here again the word is pharmakeus. Although the word is the same as the one found in chapter 21, verse 8, it has a deeper meaning in this context. By extension, it includes both the drug pusher and user! Take notice—these individu¬als are kept out of heaven. (Heaven would not be heaven very long if they were admitted.) There is only one place to which they can go and that is the place of eternal separation from the presence of God— the place prepared for Satan and his angels (see Matthew 25:41).

The Bible is explicit in stating that there is no place in heaven for those who refuse to repent of their sins. In hell, they will keep on sinning forever. They never repent or get saved there. Notice also that of the six groups named in chapter 22, verse 15, sorcerers (drug pushers and users) occupy second place immediately following the term which describes outlaws as wild dogs. Oh, God hates this sin!

An additional word, witchcraft, with the same meaning is found in Galatians 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Is there no hope or escape from the clutches of this binding habit? Praise God, there is a source of liberation -it is the Lord Jesus Christ: For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Beloved, it is by the way of the cross of Calvary that Jesus has broken Satan’s grip. Now, when any guilty sinner calls upon Him for salvation, Jesus Christ immediately frees that person from the shackles of sin and death which bind him. Try Him. There is no limit to the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Micro-chips; will they be implanted in everyone?

W.H
Morganton, NC

Concerning the micro-chip system, this is not the Mark at this point, but it is easy to see how mankind will accept the Mark in the near future (Revelation 14:9,11; 15:2; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4).

When Jesus Christ returns for His own, He will take all of those who have accepted Him as their Saviour to heaven with Him. This will trigger the Tribulation hour’s beginning on earth. During this period, the Antichrist will require that people take the “mark of the beast” or his number, 666. They will not be able to buy or sell without this number. This is not in effect now and will not be for those that know Christ as personal Saviour. This is so because the believer is “raptured” in Revelation 4:1, then the Antichrist comes to power Revelation 6:1,2 and then midway through the Tribulation period begins the usage of his “666” identification system.

During the Tribulation, the Antichrist will also have a false prophet who will be the religious leader of that period. He will be in charge of the World Church, which will be against Christ.

What does the bible say about drug/substance abuse in society today?

G.C
Orchard Hill, GA

The Greek word “pharmakia” from which we get our English word “Pharmacy”, primarily signified the use of medicine, drugs, spells; then poisoning, then sorcery. Sorcery is mentioned in Galatians 5:20 as one of the sins of the flesh (see also Revelation 9:21; 18:23).

In sorcery, the use of drugs, whether simple or potent, was generally accompanied by incantations and appeals to occult powers, with the provision of various charms, amulets, etc., professedly designed to keep the applicant or patient from the attention and power of demons, but was actually used to impress the applicant with the mysterious resources and powers of the sorcerer.
