You stated that only two men were ever raptured, Enoch and Elijah, but I thought Moses was raptured. I don’t recall anyone finding his deceased body outside of the Promised Land after he was not allowed to enter. Do you think he physically died?

Philip H.

Yes, we believe that Moses physically died. Deuteronomy 34:5 – 7 states: “So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Then in Jude verse 9 we read: “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.”

The Bible does not say why Michael and Satan were arguing over the body of Moses, however it is possible that Satan wanted to use the body of Moses to get the Israelites to fall into idolatry. Seven hundred years after it was made by Moses at the commandment of God, (Numbers 21:8-9) the Israelites were worshipping the bronze serpent and offering incense to it (II Kings 18:4). It is not too much of a stretch to believe that they would soon worship the body of Moses if it were enshrined somewhere.
