NEWS FROM ISRAEL AND THE MIDDLE EAST

Iran continues to call for Israel’s destruction despite nuclear deal

February 16, 2017 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “Iranian leaders’ calls for Israel’s destruction have not abated at all in the 20 months since the Iranian nuclear deal was signed, meaning that those who claimed the deal would moderate Iranian attitudes were completely wrong, former Foreign Ministry director-general Dore Gold said on Wednesday.

Gold’s comments came as the think tank he heads, the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, put out a compilation of poisonous statements made by Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed in July 2015.

‘There is absolutely no indication of one iota of moderation by the Iranian elite in their hostile intentions toward Israel since the conclusion of the Iran nuclear agreement. Iranian policy in this regard is driven by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,’ Gold said.

‘In September 2015, Khamenei himself said that the nuclear agreement would not change the destruction of Israel in 25 years,’ he added. ‘Those who asserted that the Iran nuclear agreement would lead to a moderation of Iranian attitudes were completely wrong.’

Leading what could be termed a ‘greatest hits parade’ of Iranian anti-Israel comments since the regime was Khamenei himself, who in September of 2015, just three months after the deal was signed, said: ‘You [Zionist regime] will not see 25 years from today! By Allah’s favor and grace, nothing called the ‘Zionist regime’ will exist by 25 years from now.’…”  (Israel will never be destroyed.  God has declared His love for Israel from its very beginning: “And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.  None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.  And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live… Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil” – Ezekiel 16:4 – 6; 9.  Deuteronomy 7:6-8 states: “For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.  The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:  But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”  Despite the rantings and ravings of the world: “…let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance” – Psalm 83:4, God has promised: “…I will give them [Israel] an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off” – Isaiah 56:5.  See the next two reports.)

Nasrallah warns: We can hit Israel’s nuclear reactor in Dimona

February 17, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “The Hezbollah terrorist organization warned Israel it could strike anywhere in the country, and threatened to hit the nuclear reactor in Dimona in southern Israel.

Speaking on Thursday, Hezbollah chairman Hassan Nasrallah boasted that his group was capable of hitting any strategic target in the Jewish state, including the nuclear research facility in Dimona – one of Israel’s most sensitive sites.

‘We invite the Israeli enemy to empty not just the ammonia tanks in Haifa,’ mocked the Hezbollah leader, ‘but also to dismantle the nuclear core in Dimona,’ claiming that ‘it is in our power to threaten any part of Israel.’

The address was made as part of an event marking the 38th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran which brought the Ayatollah Khomeini to power and enabled the establishment of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group…”

Iranian official threatens Tel Aviv

February 6, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “A senior Iranian official threatened that his country would immediately strike Israel if the United States ‘makes a mistake’, i24news reported Sunday.

Mojtaba Zonour, a senior member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and a former Revolutionary Guards official, made the comments on Saturday, and reportedly said that ‘only 7 minutes is needed for the Iranian missile to hit Tel Aviv.’

Zonour also said a United States base in Bahrain would be ‘razed to the ground’ in the event of an attack.

The threats came after President Donald Trump’s administration imposed new sanctions on 25 individuals and companies connected to Iran’s ballistic missile program and those providing support to the Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Qods Force.

The sanctions came in response to a ballistic missile test conducted by Iran last week, in violation of UN Resolution 2231, which bars Iran from conducting ballistic missile tests for eight years and which went into effect after the nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers was signed…”

Iran calls Israel ‘biggest threat’ to world peace

February 16, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “Iran said Thursday that Israel’s atomic arsenal is the biggest danger to world peace, a day after US President Donald Trump vowed to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Israel is the ‘biggest threat to the peace and security in the region and the world,’ Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said, quoted by state news agency IRNA.

Trump had warned Wednesday after meeting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Washington that the ‘threat of Iran’s nuclear ambitions’ was one of the major security challenges facing Israel.

The US president told reporters that he would do ‘more to prevent Iran from ever developing — I mean ever — a nuclear weapon’.

But Ghasemi dismissed Trump and Netanyahu’s comments as ‘nonsense’.

‘The bitter truth is that these unjust claims are being repeated by the Zionist regime that doesn’t abide by any international laws and has hundreds of warheads in its atomic arsenal,’ Ghasemi said, referring to Israel…”  (What blatant hypocrisy coming from Iran.  The United States has recently rightfully called Iran the “biggest state sponsor of terrorism” and that “ISIS is the greatest threat globally.”  Iran had better tread carefully.  In 2014 Business Insider reported that Israel has the most powerful military in the Middle East stating “In addition to being battle-tested against a variety of enemies, the Israel Defense Forces has a qualitative edge over all other militaries in the region, as well as a highly-capable air force…”  Israel is extremely capable of defending herself.  See the next two reports.)

Islamic State Jihadist on Eilat Rocket Attack: ‘The Jewish Enemy Should Anticipate More’

February 10, 2017 — Breitbart.com reports: “Wednesday’s rocket fire on the Israeli resort city of Eilat was ‘a natural reaction’ to alleged Israeli involvement with the Egyptian army’s clampdown on Sinai militants, Abu Baker Almaqdesi, a Gaza-based jihadist who fought for the Islamic State, told Breitbart Jerusalem in an interview…

Using anti-Semitic language, Almaqdesi, who spoke to Breitbart Jerusalem in Arabic, claimed that ‘the Jewish entity’ – referring to Israel – ‘never stopped assisting the Egyptian army of infidels in their war against the mujahedeen, and tonight’s salvo on Umm Rashrash [Eilat’s Arabic name] was a natural reaction to those crimes.’

The jihadist claimed the Eilat rocket attack wasn’t a precedent. ‘Earlier this month, we fired at the Elojah crossing [between Egypt and Israel]. Our brothers are determined to continue to react to the crimes of the Jews, and we’ll continue to launch rockets at Israel despite their airborne operations and despite the strain of the Egyptian army of infidels.’…

The Islamic State Sinai Province on Thursday released a statement taking credit the Eilat rocket attack: ‘A military squad fired a number of Grad rockets at communities of Jewish usurpers in the town of Eilat.’

The group said the rocket attacks were meant ‘to teach the Jews and the crusaders a proxy war will not avail them of anything.’

‘The future will be more calamitous with Allah’s permission,’ the statement said…”

Islamic Jihad blames Israel for Gaza escalation

February 8, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “The Islamic Jihad terrorist group on Monday evening blamed Israel for the latest tensions in Gaza, and called on Israel to ‘stop its aggression’.

‘What is happening in Gaza is cruel aggression for which Israel bears full responsibility,’ said Islamic Jihad leader Daoud Shihab, according to Walla! News.

‘We are not interested in an escalation nor do we seek it, but we will not allow the occupation to continue attacking Gaza. Israel must stop its attacks and stop using lies in order to apply aggressive policy. We are monitoring the events on the ground and are ready for any scenario,’ he added.

The IDF on Monday attacked Hamas positions and infrastructure in Gaza in four separate strikes, in retaliation for a rocket attack on southern Israel.

The latest air strike was carried out in the evening, with three Hamas installations in northern and southern Gaza being hit…”
