Former German leader calls for “United States of Europe”

Reuters reports: “Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder called for the creation of a ‘United States of Europe,’ saying the bloc needed a common government to avoid future economic crises.

Schroeder, a Social Democrat who ran the country from 1998 to 2005, said in an interview with Der Spiegel that European Union leaders were wrong to expect the euro to drive the bloc on its own.

‘The current crisis makes it relentlessly clear that we cannot have a common currency zone without a common fiscal, economic and social policy,’ Schroeder said.

He added: ‘We will have to give up national sovereignty.’

‘From the European Commission, we should make a government which would be supervised by the European Parliament. And that means the United States of Europe.’…” (The One World Government is presently initiating plans to fulfill the above headline – Daniel 7:23; 11:36; Revelation 13:1, 7, 8, 10-18.)

Eurozone crisis could rip EU apart: officials

Agency-France Presse reports: “The eurozone crisis could wreck the European Union, top EU officials warned as the leaders of Germany and France held talks with Greece to avoid a default and widespread chaos.

The pressure rose on all fronts with United States again expressing great concern, with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner saying European states ‘now recognise they are going to have to do more’ to resolve to the crisis.

Highlighting the threat to the global economy, Geithner is to exceptionally attend talks between European Union finance ministers and central bankers in Poland on Friday.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou were to hold a teleconference late Wednesday as markets price in a default by the government in Athens, and credit rating giant Moody’s downgraded two major French banks given their exposure to Greek debt.

‘Europe is in danger,’ Polish Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski, whose country currently chairs EU meetings, told the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

‘If the eurozone breaks up, the European Union will not be able to survive,’ he added.

At his most dramatic, Rostowski even warned that ‘war’ could return to Europe if the crisis fatally weakens the EU, founded amid the rubble of World War II…” (I believe the entire world will experience financial failure as prophesied in James 5:1-4; Revelation 18:10, 17, and 19. But I also believe that the New World Order will be led by Europe as the head of a ten division global empire now being readied to appear soon by the Club of Rome and predicted by Rabbi Hagaon and St. Jerome centuries ago – Revelation 13:1, 7, 8, 16 – 18. The 10 regions are predicted in Daniel 7:7, 8, 20, 24; Revelation 12:3; 13:1; and 17:3, 7, 12, 16.)

Western, Muslim societies ‘irreconcilable’: poll

The National Post reports: “A majority of Canadians believes conflict between Western nations and the Muslim world is ‘irreconcilable,’ according to a new national survey that revealed a strong strain of pessimism in the country leading up to the 10th anniversary commemorations of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.

The survey of 1,500 Canadians, conducted over three days last week for the Montreal-based Association for Canadian Studies, showed 56% of respondents see Western and Muslim societies locked in an unending ideological struggle, while about 33% — just one-third of the population — held out hope that the conflict will eventually be overcome.

Another 11% of those polled didn’t answer the question.

ACS executive director Jack Jedwab said the finding has ‘serious ramifications’ for Canadian policies aimed at bridging divides between cultures, which are based on the premise that citizens believe significant progress in mending such religious and cultural conflicts is achievable.

The dark view expressed in the survey ‘contradicts a fundamental idea in multicultural democracies like ours, that conflicts between societies can be resolved through dialogue and negotiation,’ said Jedwab. ‘This is also a key element in multiculturalism, where Canada is often seen elsewhere in the world as a model in conflict resolution.’

He adds: ‘If a majority of Canadians feel it is irreconcilable, what does this imply for the various projects and programs in place that aim to bridge gaps?’

The online survey, carried out Sept. 6 to 8 by the firm Leger Marketing, is considered accurate to within 2.9 percentage points 19 times out of 20…” (The Canadian citizens are correct as they predict war between the Western nations and the Muslim world.
